Works council

In the transport sector, too, employers with more than 50 employees are obliged under the Works Councils Act (WOR) to set up a Works Council (OR). In practice, this does not always seem to happen. There are many (medium-sized) transport companies that do not have a works council or employee participation body. Often, lack of enthusiasm from employees is the reason or not dwelling on the consequences and obligations of the WOR.

Decision-making processes in medium-sized and large companies are influenced by the position of the Works Council and the rights granted to it by the WOR. The WOR has a right to advice, a right to consent, and a right to consultation, respectively.
