File construction

File construction refers to the written record of the employee’s performance. In this way, an employer can fall back on written records if there is or will be dysfunction.

Examples include sending warning letters for offences committed by the employee. Writing to an employee about certain shortcomings. Or recording interview reports in the case of a disrupted working relationship. Improvement processes should of course also be described, whereby it is wise for an employer to also record in writing what ’tools’ or support were provided to improve performance.
